Date: 03 Sep 2002
Centros Miller has started work on Phase II of Weavers Wharf, its £60 million mixed-use regeneration scheme in Kidderminster town centre.
Phase II will comprise 7,897 sq m (85,000 sq ft) of open A1 retail warehousing, 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) of unit shops, three bars and restaurants, a health club and the renovation of two listed buildings while Phase I, a Tesco superstore of 8,000 sq m (86,080 sq ft), is already trading.
Current pre-lets include Next, JJB Sports and Health & Fitness, TK Maxx, Brantano, West Midlands Co-op, De Bradelei Mills, Julian Graves, Stylo Barratt, Pizza Hut and McDonalds. The site will be served by over 1,000 new surface level car parking spaces and a new bus station
The scheme has been funded by Highstone Estates.
David Lewis, development manager at Centros Miller, says: " We are excited that construction is now underway. Kidderminster is in need of investment and we are confident that we will be leaving the town better placed to compete with its neighbours and rivals. The scheme will hugely enhance the retail offer of the town by creating circa 33,445 sq m (360,000 sq ft) of new retail and leisure accommodation would have an impact anywhere."
Chase & Partners and GVA Grimley are letting agents for Weavers Wharf.
