Chris Thorne, a director of Atisreal, has been appointed vice chairman of the International Valuation Standards Board.

The Board is responsible for the development and maintenance of internationally recognised standards for the valuation of assets in company accounts and for loan security. It is part of the
International Valuation Standards Committee.

Chris, a well-known UK valuation expert, is looking forward to the challenge of developing valuation protocols that are relevant to the rapidly changing international markets and reconciling the differences that still exist between valuation practices in different countries.

"With cross border investment and trading ever increasing, and new markets opening up all the time, investors need to have confidence that values in different parts of the world are being measured and quoted consistently," he says, "otherwise it becomes impossible to compare risk. Reliable valuation and risk pricing are increasingly important in the global economy."

Mr Chris Thorne
