Jackson Construction - Offices Development - Ipswich, £1.3 Million Development Scheme
Date: 03 Mar 2006
Jackson Construction has won the next phase of a project to create new hi-tech business premises for expanding companies in the waterfront regeneration area of Ipswich. The £1.3 million scheme, follows an initial £2 million project to create the town's innovative IP-City Centre, which Jackson completed in 2005, and is being jointly funded by the East of England Development Association (EEDA), and Ipswich Borough Council.
The latest phase of the development sees the contractor fitting out the first floor of the new centre, creating high specification offices and conference rooms to cater for the town's growing number of technology companies that have outgrown their existing premises. The project forms part of the IP-City scheme to promote technological growth in and around Ipswich, encourage investment and long-term development, whilst strengthening links with Cambridge to form a hi-tech trading corridor between the two conurbations. The project commences in February with a 20-week duration.
Mark Hart, Director of Jackson Construction's Public division, commented: "The IP-City Centre has proved a great success, with increasing demand for space driving this latest phase of development to provide high quality office accommodation for the region's rapidly expanding technology businesses. Alongside our recently completed £13 million Neptune Marina development, Jackson Construction is firmly establishing its regeneration credentials and we look forward to playing a key role in Ipswich's ongoing revival."
Simon Meecham, from Ipswich Borough Council added: "Phase 1 of the project has been a resounding success, it has met its targets for attracting business from outside the region and helped companies to grow within Ipswich. The conference centre has also reviewed enviable feedback from its users."
