Nelson Bakewell - Mixed-Use General - Greenwich, London, Property Management Contract for Greenwich Hospital
Date: 04 Oct 2006
Greenwich Hospital has selected Nelson Bakewell to provide property management and development consultancy services for its property estate in Greenwich, including the world famous Greenwich Market.
The original Greenwich Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Seamen, was housed in the magnificent group of buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren, which in 1873 became the Royal Naval College. The buildings are now known as the Old Royal Naval College and are used by the University of Greenwich and Trinity College of Music.
John Chadwick, the Director of Greenwich Hospital said: "Greenwich is one of the jewels in the London crown and as a World Heritage Site is visited by people the world over. It is important therefore that it is managed in a way that takes account of our responsibility for proper stewardship of the property while achieving our investment objectives.
"The appointment of Nelson Bakewell is a key decision for us as we seek to continue to improve the management of the properties and to plan for the future. We believe that Nelson Bakewell has the expertise and experience to ensure that our estate in Greenwich will contribute fully to the World Heritage Site in the future and to the London Olympics in 2012."
David Gardiner, a Director of Nelson Bakewell's Property Management said: "This is a very special appointment for us. The real estate is simply magnificent and it forms a really important part of London's heritage. We are thrilled to be working with Greenwich Hospital whose reputation and history make this a unique and most important opportunity."
