Date: 18 Jun 2008

Leading property professionals swapped the blackberry for a Wii tennis racket at the Slough Trading Estate charity tennis tournament and BBQ held on Thursday 12th June. With overhead speed serves and backhands aplenty, the competition was tough to be crowned the Wii tennis tournament champions in singles and doubles games.

Individuals and pairs battled it out most of the afternoon to win one of four Nintendo Wii Consoles and a crate of fine wine. The champions emerged as Pat Rosso and Dipesh Patel from Colliers CRE, winning the doubles game and Roshi Klair also from Colliers CRE taking the singles title. In the raffle, Frank De Souza of De Souza Chartered Surveyors won the case of wine, whilst James Haestier of Colliers CRE won the final Wii.

The tournament was also an opportunity to help raise money for SEGRO's chosen charity for 2008, Dogs for the Disabled is a pioneering charity that trains specially selected dogs to carry out a range of practical tasks to assist disabled children and adults. Every dog is trained to help with everyday tasks such as opening doors, picking up the morning post, emptying the washing machine, retrieving dropped items such as a TV remote, keys or a wallet. A total of £40,000 has been raised for the charity so far.

The event was held at one of the Trading Estate's 22,000sq ft unit's on Yeovil Road. Neil Impiazzi, Inward Investment Manager at Slough Trading Estate commented: "It was a great afternoon of healthy competition and a great way to raise money for our chosen charity."
