ISG Jackson - General Development - South Ilford
Date: 20 Jun 2008
ISG Jackson is well underway with a £7.9 million fast-track project for developer Loxford Complex Ltd, to build a new Primary Care Resource Centre in South Ilford. The Centre, one of the first of a number of new polyclinics planned for construction across the UK, will enable Redbridge Primary Care Trust to bring two existing practices, spread across the borough, together onto one purpose-built site, which will host a comprehensive range of medical facilities in a state-of-the-art new building.
The new facility will occupy a central site in the town, formerly occupied by a derelict public house, and has been designed as a landmark building in the area with large areas of curtain walling and rain screen cladding to its façade. The three-storey steel frame structure will feature a full height glazed atrium within the centre of the building, providing a bright and airy waiting room and multi purpose space.
A single-storey pharmacy projects from the main building at the front elevation and at ground floor level the main building hosts numerous consulting and practice nurse rooms, along with an ultrasound suite and café area. Further consulting and practice nurse rooms are spread across the upper two floors, with a minor operations suite, counselling, rehabilitation and therapy rooms on the first floor. Completion of the new Primary Care Resource Centre is scheduled for the end of the year.
Peter Woodnott, director of ISG Jackson's Commercial division, commented: "The increasing role of the private sector within the development of new community facilities has generated a wealth of high quality opportunities for main contractors. By demonstrating essential sector expertise and an innovative, value added approach, ISG Jackson is ideally placed to secure a greater share of future regional healthcare projects."
