Date: 26 Jun 2008
National Property Consultants Carter Jonas has been successful in its tender for the management of a substantial part of The Crown Estate's Marine portfolio.
This exciting new instruction for the firm in conjunction with Colchester-based surveyors Morley Riches and Ablewhite LLP is for managing a large part of England's coastal and tidal river interests.
The Crown Estate owns the sea bed out to 12 nautical miles.
The areas the firm will cover are from the River Thames in London up to Berwick-upon-Tweed on the Scottish Border on the east coast and in the north west of England from the Scottish Borders down to the North Wales border, excluding the Duchy of Lancaster's portfolio.
The Crown Estate Marine portfolio includes a wide range of activities including development of harbours, ports and marinas, moorings and jetties; cables and pipelines crossing the sea bed; outfalls; dredgings for aggregates; offshore wind farms developments; in addition to dealing with management issues for many leases and licences.
In winning this business, Andrew Watkin, one of the firm's Partners who heads the successful team, said:
"Our multi discipline practice, which includes asset management and specialist property expertise in the commercial, development and energy sectors, as well our planning experience, made us a very strong candidate for this important role."
