Date: 30 Jun 2008
O2 today announced the near completion of construction of its new HQ on Slough Trading Estate, hosting a traditional topping out ceremony to celebrate. Due for completion in December 2008, the new 110,000 sq ft building will house Telefonica O2 UK Limited's Head Office functions and link to the existing offices at 260 Bath Road creating a 200,000 sq ft campus.
"O2's new home represents an important step in the history of the business; it highlights our lasting commitment to Slough and delivers a fantastic working environment for our employees." Ronan Dunne, CEO of Telefonica O2 UK Limited said.
The building's sustainable design is aimed at reducing solar gain and energy consumption. The building also offers the facility to harvest rainwater for landscape irrigation, daylight sensitive light fittings and methods of reducing water consumption. The building has been taken on a 15 year lease.
Ian Coull, CEO of SEGRO commented: "O2 is a valued customer on the Slough Trading Estate, and we have worked closely with them and Moss Construction to identify and accommodate their requirements and we're delighted to see the building near completion. At SEGRO we're committed to working with our customers to deliver an environment which is suitable for their current and future business needs."
Paul Cullen, Managing Director, Moss Construction, added, "Moss is extremely pleased to have been selected by SEGRO to lead the construction of this prestigious new office for O2. The team spirit and open, honest culture encouraged by SEGRO generates excellent working relationships, which will ensure delivery of a high quality building."
O2's new HQ was designed by Nicholas Hare Architects. Arup was the structural engineer for the project with Kier Building Services undertaking the M&E work.
