CoreNet Global - Appointment - London

CoreNet Global, the world's leading professional association of corporate real estate and workplace executives, announced today the election of Barry Varcoe as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 7,000 member association. Mr. Varcoe will serve a one-year term as Chairman, beginning 28 April 2009 at the close of the CoreNet Global Dallas Summit.
Mr. Varcoe will succeed Mark Tamburro as CoreNet Global's new Chairman, making him the second Chair from the UK in succession on the Global Board. Varcoe is the Director of Group Property for The Royal Bank of Scotland.
In addition, Jan-Peter Kastelein, Senior Researcher, Nyenrode Business University a CoreNet Global member based in the Benelux region is one of a number of new Associate Director appointments to the Board.
Commenting on the appointments, Paul Harrington, newly appointed UK Chapter President said:
"The UK Chapter is pleased to welcome Barry to his new position as Chairman and we very much look forward to working with him. Barry has a wealth of Corporate Real Estate experience and will no doubt have an innovative and strategic vision for CoreNet Global's future, which will ensure the organizations success through challenging times."
Lee Utke, MCR, will assume the position of Chair-Elect. Utke is the Director of Global Corporate Real Estate for Whirlpool Corporation. Steve Stoner of Stoner Consulting Group was appointed Treasurer. Tamburro, VP of Workplace Resources for Nokia, will serve as an officer in the position of Immediate Past Chair.
CoreNet Global also announced the newly elected Directors and Associate Directors of the Board. The Board will now include seven Directors from countries outside of North America, and for the first time a member - Erica Chapman - from CoreNet Global's Young Leaders Special Interest Group (SIG).
All newly appointed members to the Board of Directors will serve a term of three years concluding in the spring of 2012.
