The Resort Group signs Sol Meliá to manage Cape Verde resorts.
The Resort Group Plc, advised by international real estate advisor Savills, has appointed Sol Meliá to manage two new five star resorts on the island of Sal, Cape Verde, under their "MELIÁ" brand.
The Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa and the Meliá Dunas Beach Resort will provide combined condo-hotel accommodation of around 1,000 units. Facilities and amenities for guests across the two resorts include 13 restaurants, 12 bars, swimming pools, function suites and luxury spa facilities under the Sol Meliá Yhi Spa brand.
The Resort Group Plc has previously been involved in Andalucia, Spain, and also with the ultra-luxurious Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto.
Spanish based Sol Meliá is the largest resort hotel operator in the world and currently operates over 300 hotels across 28 countries.
Greg Childs, Savills hotels, comments: "This is a tremendous success for The Resort Group and represents one of the best resort deals to be concluded in the current market. The opening of the resorts under the MELIÁ brand is great news for the Cape Verde islands, will drive the location forward as a global holiday destination and generate a huge amount of employment and income for the growing local economy."
Rob Jarrett, Chairman of The Resort Group, adds: "The Resort Group is absolutely delighted and very proud to have Sol Meliá to operate Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa and Dunas Beach Resort. I am particularly thrilled that the Hotels will be the luxurious 5-Star MELIÁ brand. I would also like to thank Savills for all their advice, support and help during the process."
