Date: 24 Feb 2010

Office space let in Portsmouth at a headline rent of £15 per sq ft.

Hippowaste, the company behind the pioneering Hippobag, is to move its headquarters to Highcross' 1000 Lakeside office building in Portsmouth.

Highcross has let 5,400 sq ft at 1000 Lakeside to Hippowaste, which will be moving to Portsmouth from its current premises in Titchfield, Fareham. Hippowaste has taken the space on a 6 year lease at a headline rent of £15 per sq ft.

Since it was launched in 2002, Hippowaste has grown to become a national provider of waste management solutions for business and trade users, local authorities and householders across the UK. The space at Lakeside will become the company's Head Office, housing the call centre, sales and marketing, HR, transport and finance teams, with Hippowaste's warehouse operations located at a separate site in Portsmouth.

Chief operating officer, Richard Scarrott, said the move reflected the company's exceptional growth over recent years: "We were looking for larger premises in a new, prestigious location which would meet our growth requirements and match our development as a major player in the UK waste industry. 1000 Lakeside has excellent facilities for both staff and customers, good transportation links, and an attractive location, as such it ticked all our boxes."

Nick Turner, director of asset management at Highcross added: "1000 Lakeside's appearance and facilities have marked it out as the preferred choice for companies which want to ensure that their office space reflects their corporate brand and provides an excellent working environment for their staff. We are delighted that this highly successful and innovative business has selected Lakeside as the most appropriate location for the next stage in its growth and development."
