New occupiers bring a spark to Stevenage old town.

After months of being empty, 57 High Street in Stevenage Old Town is soon to have a new occupier. S & C Electrical Engineering Limited has finally signed up to take over the existing lease. Tomlinson Quin, part of the Aitchison Raffety Group, acted for the outgoing tenant.

Originally a flooring showroom, the premises will be refurbished by S & C so that the company can improve its high street profile offering a wider range of services to the public and clients.

The property comprises a sales area of 388 sq ft with a further 316 sq ft of ancillary office space at first floor level. S & C took an assignment of the existing lease at a passing rent of £18,500 per annum. The lease runs to 2014.

Commenting on the transaction, Philip Richards, commercial surveyor of Tomlinson Quin in Hitchin said: "this is good news for Stevenage Old Town and shows that despite the gloomy start to the year there is still activity in the market and tenants who are keen to take premises."
