Portsmouth Property Association - Appointment - Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Date: 16 Mar 2010
New chairman for Portsmouth Property Association.
An organisation that represents more than 130 property professionals in and around Portsmouth has a new chairman.
Roger Sherliker takes over the reins from Rob Marchant, who was chairman of Portsmouth Property Association (PPA) for two years and is the auctioneer for Whiteley-based regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.
The changes were formalised at the PPA's AGM, held yesterday (Monday, March 15th) at The Mountbatten Centre in the city.
Roger, who was chairman of the PPA three years ago and works for Fareham-based commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard, paid tribute to the work of his predecessor.
He said: "Rob has transformed the membership during his tenure, opening up entry to lawyers, accountants and other property-related professionals and nearly doubling numbers.
"The whole organisation has been modernised as well, and it is a reflection of the reinvigorated PPA that 120 people attended the association's conference last month (February) at the city's Guildhall."
Rob said: "Roger laid down the foundations for the modernisation of the PPA, which dates back to 1921, in his role at chairman prior to me taking on the mantle - he did the hard bit."
Rob joins the 11-strong committee, while Ian Lee of Portsmouth-based chartered surveyors McAndrew Martin was elected vice chairman.
More than £20,000 for charity has been raised by the PPA over the past three years, including for the Rainbow Centre in Fareham, which helps children with cerebral palsy, and Portsmouth girl Lilly-May Hanvey, who has severe autism.
