Great Portland Estates - Retail - Torquay

Salisburys, the UK market leader in the sale of luggage, baggage and travel accessories, has taken 114 sq m (1,225 sq ft) at Union Square, Great Portland Estates Plc's 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) shopping centre in Torquay.

The new outlet has been taken at a rent of £34,000 per annum on a 15 year lease. Located on the ground level near to JJB Sports, Monsoon and Peacocks, Salisburys opens its doors at the end of September (1998).

Salisburys is the trading name of The Baggage Company Ltd and part of the Cariton Group, one of the largest manufacturers of luggage and baggage in the world. The Union Square shop is one of over 100 outlets in the UK and is part of Salisburys ongoing expansion programme.

Russell Jerrard, of Brasier Harris, the retained agents for Salisburys comments:
"We are delighted to be opening at Union Square shopping centre. We feel that Torquay and particularly Union Square are strong and popular shopping locations, and coupled with the lack of competition we are confident we will trade well."
