Abstract:
September's optimism was decidedly misplaced, although it is too soon to gauge the effect of the extraordinary measures taken by world governments to stabilize financial markets.

One thing seems clear, lending to commercial property is likely to remain disrupted for the remainder of 2008 with limited scope for a recovery in investment transaction volumes.

Likewise, the outlook for the economy has weakened considerably. Despite these trends the recent past has shown that there are likely to be a few interesting twists and turns in the markets. We will continue to track carefully.
