Abstract:
The latest economic data shows that consumer demand remains weak but there are tentative signs of the economy rebalancing towards exports and business investment. The job market remains firm with little sign of weakness in the sectors that have delivered rapid job growth in recent years. Energy costs have helped push inflation above its target, but competitive pressures should prevent it passing through to other areas of the economy.
